The goal of our Youth Ministry program at St. James is to further the family-based, inclusive model of Faith Formation for those in their adolescence. This approach includes catechetical, liturgical, spiritual, and service offerings for our youth.
We promote vibrant participation in the life of the parish through our Eucharistic liturgies. Youth are welcome and warmly invited to serve the community as lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, ushers, altar servers, and choir members at our Sunday liturgies.
We offer regular catechetical and service opportunities designed specifically to meet the needs of our youth. Learning about the faith does not end at Confirmation; Faith Formation is a lifelong process! We also believe in living out what we learn about our faith, and to that end, we provide opportunities for youth to engage in service. This service takes place throughout the academic year and more intensely during the summer.
Finally, we seek to promote our youth’s relationship with Jesus Christ through a variety of spiritual offerings. These include retreats and prayer evenings. This prayerful and reflective part of our program allows youth “to come away and pray” in the company of their peers, whether for an entire weekend or an hour on a weeknight.
All are welcome to participate in our activities, which includes those not in their adolescent years. We are always in need of adults who wish to further the mission of the Church by helping our youth to maintain a relationship with Jesus.
